Renovation work has been carried out at the Anne Bakker School, Berea School, and Nabawi School. These renovations were funded and executed by the Taiwanese organization Tzu-Xing (TX) Foundation, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of the Republic of Suriname. On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, a ceremonial handover took place, marked by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque. The event was attended by First Lady Mellisa Santokhi-Seenacherry, the president of TX Foundation, Mrs. Han-Jung Lin, and several representatives of TX Foundation.
The renovation work included replacing roof panels, painting classrooms, leveling and paving the schoolyard, and renovating restroom facilities. During the handover, the First Lady expressed her appreciation for TX Foundation’s support. “Renovating our schools is not just about buildings; it is about giving our children a bright future. With your donations, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe and happy environment,” she stated with gratitude. She also encouraged students to take care of their surroundings so that future generations can continue to enjoy a pleasant school environment.
Mrs. Lin, president of TX Foundation, was deeply moved by the gratitude and appreciation expressed by the school administration and students of the three schools. The intention is to continue the collaboration between the Office of the First Lady and TX Foundation and to carry out more renovation projects in the future.
