First Lady participates in three-day leadership training

As Chair of the Spouses of CARICOM Leaders Action Network (SCLAN), the First Lady is currently in New York to participate in the second three-day leadership training in health and development organized by the Global First Ladies Alliance (GFLA) and Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

During the opening yesterday, Wednesday, July 10, they discussed the role of the first lady as a leader, role model and the power of the first lady to influence policy and social change. In addition, leadership principles and unique strengths of first ladies and insights into leadership styles were also discussed.

Today’s schedule includes: Policy Making: How to Solve Development Problems, Leading a Global Health Government, and a Case Study on Food Security.

The training ends on Friday, July 12.
