Recently, First Lady Mellisa Santokhi-Seenacherry was on a state visit to the People’s Republic of China together with President Chandrikapersad Santokhi, where our Surinamese Head of State had a meeting with his Chinese counterpart. The President has invited the Surinamese students in China to a meeting through the Surinamese embassy and offered them a dinner.

There were also several businessmen and people from the Surinamese diaspora living in Beijing present at the meeting.

The President has motivated the students to continue to do their best, to acquire enough knowledge and to share it with our Surinamese upon return to our country. Furthermore, it has been requested that the students serve as a bridge between the Surinamese and Chinese cultures.
