The launch of the reusable sanitary pads pilot project (reusable and washable sanitary pads) of First Lady Mellisa Santokhi-Seenacherry took place at the Siswa Tama girls’ boarding school. As a member of the Advisory Board of Eminent Persons on Zero Waste, it is her job to implement projects that promote zero-waste. Reusable sanitary pads are a great example of eliminating waste because the pads are washed and reused.

Washable sanitary pads are an environmentally friendly and versatile product. It is comfortable, puts less pressure on your wallet and is easy to clean. This product is a sustainable environmentally friendly choice, which contributes to the ecological impact on our world. Choosing washable sanitary towels causes less waste, unlike disposable menstrual products, which are thrown away after one use. “The project has been very well received at the boarding school and it is good that both the management and the girls of the boarding school want to work together to make this project a success. After the launch, feedback forms were provided to the management, so that improvements can be made based on the feedback.”
