It was recently commemorated that the Portuguese from Madeira have been present in Suriname for 170 years and therefore make an essential contribution to the construction of our beautiful country.
In honor of this and at the invitation of Father Esteban Kross, Vicar General of the Diocese of Paramaribo, President Chandrikapersad Santokhi and First Lady Mellisa Santokhi-Seenacherry were guests at a special thanksgiving service. This took place in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Petrus en Paulus. During the service, a presentation was given about the past 170 years. The First Lady congratulates the Portuguese community on this special moment and is convinced that together we can make an even greater contribution to the construction of Suriname.
