The GLO Bread Project 2023 finally started on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at O.S. 1 Santodorp.

During the launch first lady Mellisa Santokhi-Seenacherry explained the purpose of the project to the students. This project means that forty glo schools in the districts of Paramaribo, Wanica, Para, Saramacca and Commewijne are provided with a total of 4000 loaves of bread, spreads and drinks (juice or milk) every day.

The loaves are delivered daily before the first break in well-sealed boxes. There is a recycling plan linked to this project. Agreements have already been made with the school leaders for this. The schools will be provided with large bags in which all plastic waste (bags and bottles) must be deposited. These are then offered for recycling.

The first lady would like to thank all teams involved for their efforts. Let’s make this project a great success together.
