The “Prani Yu Dyari” project is a reality!
Through this project we want to encourage young people to learn how to plant, so that they too are part of the process of food security. We want to teach them to be involved with nature and to create awareness and appreciation for our own fertile soil. By planting yourself, you are assured of unsprayed crops, which means healthy fruit and vegetables. You are also teaching your family, especially the children, to be self-reliant.
And how wonderful it was to launch this project on the president’s 64th birthday. The aim is to provide 6400 families with a plant package this year, which consists of a wide bong, chestnut, bitawiri, clarion and banana plant. Also some cassava sticks, some pepper and tayer leaf plants. Our aim is to provide a total of 64,000 families with this plant package in the following years. This project is being carried out with support from the Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and Spatial Planning and the Environment. Thank you to the ministers and to everyone who supports this project in any way. Together we are working on food security in our beautiful Suriname.
